Over the years, 5Dimes has worked extremely hard to be one of the biggest sportsbooks in the USA. They’re a company whose tradition within the sports betting industry is starting to grow, and as a result, has been a first port of call for many US based bettors. This review will look over the hype surrounding 5Dimes to essentially get to the bottom of if they’re any good or not?
5Dimes have always been pretty generous when it comes to rewards and promotions for their sportsbook users, and this deal is no different. You can get a bonus up to $200 by making your first deposit of between $100 and $400 equaling a 50% match. For any amount over $400 and up to $2,000 5Dimes will offer you an additional 20% on that amount as well. Just to make things clear, a $2000 deposit would get it’s first $400 matched at 50% equaling $200, then the next $1,600 matched at 20% equaling $320. This gives a total of $520 in bonus money.
The bonus will get released into your account in increments of 10% total bonus once you’ve wagered through your deposit amount once. For every time you wager through this amount another 10% will be credited to your account and so on, until you’ve wagered through the bonus amount 10 times.
Please note that this promotion is available to all users but you must contact live support within 24 hours of opening your account to activate the promotion. The site does state that the bonus is manually added, so unless you get in touch, you will not become eligible.
One of the biggest selling points with 5Dimes, for us at least, is the range of sports and betting markets that are on offer. We’re fully aware that the majority of their customers are going to be US based and as a result half expected the site to not venture too far from the likes of American Football, basketball, baseball and ice hockey.
But, to our pleasant surprise, the site is much deeper than that. Obviously those sports are there, and are covered extremely well, but the inclusion of sports such as soccer, golf, tennis, boxing, UFC, rugby union, volleyball and handball, to name but a few, adds a depth that a lot of USA facing sportsbooks simply lack.
Coupled with that, the market coverage for these sports are more than adequate as well. You get options such as Bet The Board, Straight & RIF, Parlay, Teasers, If Bets, Action Reverse, Futures and whole bunch more. We found that just the sheer range of bet types on offer kept us wanting to come back for more, if only to try something out of the ordinary.
In terms of pricing, prior to coming into this review, we had heard a bit of a mixed bag as to what to expect. Some argued that they were ‘tight’ with their lines, but actually found the opposite; at least, they were about industry standard. At no point when comparing with other USA sportsbooks did we find a scenario where they were massively out priced. Granted, the price you get isn’t always going to be the best, but they were never far away, for us at least.
The only gripe that we really found with the site is with the design, or lack of it. To say it’s basic would be an understatement and it feels as though it was design by some bloke in 1995 coding out his parents basement. What’s always been tough to come to terms with these sorts of sites is that, as a team who create websites like this, we know how little it takes to get something at the very least, plausible looking up and running.
We realize that design is not the be all and end all for sportsbooks, and to be honest, once you really start to get into 5Dimes and forget about the design, the site functions pretty well. Its simplicity at it’s finest, although we can’t help but feel a little underwhelmed by how it looks.
5Dimes have some great features going for it. The range of sports and markets are undoubtedly why so many people use this sportsbook and we can see ourselves popping back to see what sort of markets are on offer to keep everything feeling fresh.
The site has its niggles, none more so than in the design for us, but also the welcome bonus can get a little confusing. Hopefully we’ve broken that down for you in the section above.
Overall we enjoyed our time on site and if 5Dimes hasn’t been on your radar up to now, then we would definitely recommend you go take a look.
