MLB Pick: Cincinnati Reds at Milwaukee Brewers

The Cincinnati Reds are in Milwaukee tonight for game 1 of a four game series versus the Brewers. This has been a fairly even series of late with both teams splitting the last 20 meetings with 10 wins a piece. This has also been a low scoring series with 10 of the last 12 meetings going under the total so that is something that might also be worth taking a look at.

Head to Head Trends

Reds are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings in Milwaukee.
Under is 34-16-1 in the last 51 meetings.

Milwaukee Brewers (-114)

This has not been a very good start to the season for the Brewers with just a 2-10 record including losing their last 5 in a row. The Brewers have been struggling on both sides of the ball averaging just 2.50 runs per game on offense while allowing 5.42 runs per game on defense so it’s hard to win many games like that.

On the hill for the Brewers today is Wily Peralta who had a good outing in his first start of the season going 7 innings allowing just 2 earned runs but he did get smacked around a bit in his second start allowing 10 hits and 4 runs over 5 innings.

Milwaukee Brewers Trends

Brewers are 1-6 in their last 7 home games.
Brewers are 3-13 in their last 16 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15.

Cincinnati Reds (+104)

The Cincinnati Reds got off to a quick start winning their first 4 games of the season but they have really struggled since winning just 1 of their last 8 games. The biggest problem for the Reds right now is scoring runners. They’re getting their hits but once they get on base it seems like that’s where they stay as they’re not getting the timely hits that win games although I’m sure they will come.

Starting for the Reds is Anthony Desclafani who has looked great in hit two starts this season. Anthony is 1-0 with a tiny 1.38 ERA and a whip of just 0.77 so he’s been impressive early.

Cincinnati Reds Trends

Reds are 0-4 in their last 4 overall.
Reds are 42-18 in their last 60 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.

I’m going with the Cincinnati Reds over the Brewers in this one. Neither team is playing very good right now especially on offense so I think we should just go with Desclafani who has looked super impressive early in the season and bet the underdog which is always a good strategy for betting baseball.
